It’s A Winter Wonderland

It’s A Winter Wonderland

Winter showed up early this year!

Sometimes winter can be long, dark and boring.  But it doesn’t have to be that way!  There’s plenty to do outside – don’t let the cold discourage you from having fun.

Have a snowball fight.  Go skiing (cross country or downhill), snowboarding, tobogganing or snowshoeing.  Drink hot cocoa.  Build a snowman.  Make a snow angel or build a snow fort.  There’s ice fishing or throw together a game of shinny outdoors.

When you get chilled and need to come inside after all that shovelling, you could bake some cookies and share them with friends.  Cozy up in front of a roaring fire and watch the flames.  Make a pot of mulled wine or spiced cider.  Bake cinnamon rolls.  Wear fuzzy slippers at home.  Add some peppermint schnapps to your hot chocolate.  Shop after Christmas sales (online, in your pjs).  Watch the snow fall and listen to the wind howl on a chilly night.

Autumn Is On The Way

Autumn Is On The Way

Fall is around the corner.  Leaves are beginning to change.  There’s a chill in the air.  It’s a wonderful time of year for decorating your home.

When it comes to curb appeal, your front yard area is prime real estate.  Create an eye catching display with a variety of items.  Rustic planters stuffed with a variety of chrysanthemums.

Make the most of your outdoor space.  If you have room for a chair, it’s a wonderful addition.  Make it cozy with plush pillows and a warm throw blanket.  Woven baskets, a traditional leaf wreath, pumpkins, gourds, antiques, a chalkboard sign declaring “Hello Fall” – will all add charm.  You could add a hand painted distressed wood welcome sign.  Not only will it add charm, but it will also create an inviting atmosphere for your guests.
